I was sitting back looking at my "masterpiece of the day" when I noticed a shadow floating across the lawn, I didn't jump up and investigate right away, I knew it was a bird. Again it danced across the yard so I lazily leaned outside the studio and looked up. The sun was very bright and after my eyes adjusted I scanned the big blue, all at once just above the trees soared the most magnificent sight. An Eagle was about 150 feet above me and it felt as though time stopped, I couldn't move, it seemed liked the Eagle was looking directly into my eyes. The sky was BLUE, no not just blue, I mean BLUE we had a cool front with rain yesterday and you know the color is so brilliant right after. Anyway the fluffy white clouds, the BLUE sky, the freshly washed green and then on top of all that this majestic "masterpiece". Wham right smack in the ego! I'm reminded of the story I was told as young boy about the Eagle and how he got his markings. In the beginning Eagle was white and Eagle was the only bird that could fly so far up in the heavens and he is the one that takes our prayers to our creator "Wah-kon-ta". One day Eagle got so full of himself and started bragging to all the other birds and animals that he was the best and most beautiful of all the creatures. He said he could fly the highest and was the strongest. Eagle got so full of himself that "Wah-kon-ta" had to remind him he was no better than any of the other birds or animals, but Eagle paid no attention. Still Eagle bragged and boasted of himself to all the others, then one day he got so full of himself that " Wah-kon-ta " knew it was time to teach Eagle a lesson. Eagle soared higher than he had ever flew before and "Wah-kon-ta" used the sun to scorch Eagle's feathers to teach him humility and that no one is better than any one else.
